In 2009 the Group opened its first branch office in southern China in Guangzhou. Guangzhou ranked the nation’s top four first-tier cities along with Beijing, Shanghai & Shenzhen and is one of the most significant sales districts in China. The GDP and income per capita of Guangzhou & Guangdong province have been boosted by new manufacturing industries such as automobile production and electronic communications in the last decade. The wealth of the people has been increasing leading to the piling up of huge purchasing power in the market. In fact, the demand for imported food is getting stronger and stronger, especially for high-quality grain, oil and other non staple foodstuffs. With the entry into the WTO, China is further opening up the local distribution and retail business to foreign retail giants who introduced new retail business models and large-scale warehouse-scale supermarkets, hypermarkets, chain stores etc. This stimulates the Group to enter into the retail sales market in conjunction with the development of traditional wholesale network. Guangzhou office plays the role as a supply depot for the operations in Shenzhen, Southern & Central China by furnishing financial & administrative supports, assisting the sales team during the China Import and Export Commodities Fair and providing after-sales services etc. Guangzhou also serves as a strategic logistic hub in manipulating the logistics and transportations for our China business. Frozen containers from Europe and United States will ship direct to Guangzhou Nansha Harbour. Under the supervsion of Guangzhou cold distribution centre, we can make sure that each order will be delivered to our wholesale or retail customers as per the designated time schedule.
